Hello ASL Members, Friends, Partners
May this post find you and your healthy in body, mind, and soul. We appreciate all those that have reached out to show support for ASL and inquires as to updates, and for that we are extremely grateful. We hope that we can reciprocate with prayers and support of your needs as well.
Currently here is the state of affairs for our leagues and the facilities we rent:
Georgia Governor Kemp opened many small business on April 26th including restaurants, fitness facilities, and public parks. Public Pools were opened on May 14th. Bars, Performance venues and amusement parks are to remain closed through May 31st.
South Carolina Governor has opened public parks, and will open restaurants, fitness facilities, public pools, etc on May 18th. No date has been announced for bars, performance venues, and amusement parks.
While public parks are open, mandates maintain that gatherings over 10 people require social distancing of 6 feet, which is impossible for recreational sports.
Also, we have been told by our contacts, at either the city, county, or school board level, for all 3 counties where ASL operates, that they cannot rent facilities to ASL at this time. This is due to either the priority and undetermined schedule of youth and children sports or to the fact that they are not renting facilities to any groups.
Regarding private institutions such as private schools and churches, we have been told that they are still trying to determine when and should let us know by end of next week around May 22nd.
CONCLUSION:
ASL is working to find alternate locations and facilities to play adult recreational sports or waiting on permission, and will not start any Spring sports until after Memorial Day (05/25/2020)
We are optimistic that we can find locations to play. Also, ASL will be implementing additional safety guidelines to help keep participants and officials more safe regarding health concerns.
The 5th Annual Augusta Craft Beer Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2020 at SRP Park, and we are awaiting an announcement from Governor McMasters or SC as to when entertainment venues can re-open. If that date is after the current date we will be cancelling the festival and issuing refunds and credits accordingly.
Credits / Refunds
Our policies regarding refunds are still in place. We have issued credits for all of our Winter sports that were not completed.
If your team captain did not get an update, please have him/her email the ASL office at Augusta@PlayASL.com to follow up.
Continue monitoring the ASL newsletter, emails, and social media for more details.
