Covid-19 Updates

Update: May 14, 2020

Hello ASL Members, Friends, Partners

May this post find you and your healthy in body, mind, and soul. We appreciate all those that have reached out to show support for ASL and inquires as to updates, and for that we are extremely grateful. We hope that we can reciprocate with prayers and support of your needs as well.

Currently here is the state of affairs for our leagues and the facilities we rent:

  • Georgia Governor Kemp opened many small business on April 26th including restaurants, fitness facilities, and public parks. Public Pools were opened on May 14th.  Bars, Performance venues and amusement parks are to remain closed through May 31st.

  • South Carolina Governor has opened public parks, and will open restaurants, fitness facilities, public pools, etc on May 18th.  No date has been announced for bars, performance venues, and amusement parks.

  • While public parks are open, mandates maintain that gatherings over 10 people require social distancing of 6 feet, which is impossible for recreational sports.

  • Also, we have been told by our contacts, at either the city, county, or school board level, for all 3 counties where ASL operates, that  they cannot rent facilities to ASL at this time.  This is due to either the priority and undetermined schedule of youth and children sports or to the fact that they are not renting facilities to any groups.

  • Regarding private institutions such as private schools and churches, we have been told that they are still trying to determine when and should let us know by end of next week around May 22nd.

CONCLUSION:

ASL is working to find alternate locations and facilities to play adult recreational sports or waiting on permission, and will not start any Spring sports until after Memorial Day (05/25/2020)

We are optimistic that we can find locations to play.  Also, ASL will be implementing additional safety guidelines to help keep participants and officials more safe regarding health concerns.

The 5th Annual Augusta Craft Beer Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2020 at SRP Park, and we are awaiting an announcement from Governor McMasters or SC as to when entertainment venues can re-open.  If that date is after the current date we will be cancelling the festival and issuing refunds and credits accordingly.

Credits / Refunds

Our policies regarding refunds are still in place.  We have issued credits for all of our Winter sports that were not completed.

If your team captain did not get an update, please have him/her email the ASL office at Augusta@PlayASL.com to follow up.

Continue monitoring the ASL newsletter, emails, and social media for more details.

Covid-19 Updates

Update 4-15-2020

Hello ASL Members, Friends, Partners

We hope that you are yours are staying healthy and practicing safe social distancing, etc during this challenging time living through the Covid-19 virus outbreak.  We appreciate all those that have reached out to show support for our business and for that we are extremely grateful. We hope that we can reciprocate with prayers and support of your needs as well.

Also, We have also received inquiries on the status of leagues and events (updates below).

  • IN COMPLIANCE WITH CDC, STATE, AND LOCAL REGULATIONS, ALL IN-PERSON LEAGUES AND EVENTS ARE POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!
  • ASL will do whatever we can to give the same experience we/ve been giving for the past 7 years. Any teams/individuals participating in Winter 2020 leagues which have not concluded, will receive an ASL credit according to ASL policies and guarantees. We will update teams/players no later than April 21, 2020 with their credit amount via email.
  • Any payments made to ASL for Spring season, next league, or any future event, will be credited to when the event is rescheduled. Ideally we would like to give everyone's deposits back but right now we are working on next steps.
  • We understand that everyone is hurting in one way or another and our small business is in the same place.  We have suspended all part-time staff including 2 office personnel, and owner Keith is working at no cost.  We have about $1000 in our bank account, and additional debts both current outstanding and related to monthly expenses.  ASL is applying for available small business loans, etc in order to continue to serve our community now and for the future.
  • Our expectation is that we should be able to return to in-person leagues after May 15 and have scheduled start dates on our website accordingly.  If that changes we will reschedule, etc and update those that have paid their registration fees.  Either way you will not loose your registration fee.
  • We have rescheduled our biggest social event of the year, the 5th Annual Augusta Craft Beer Festival at SRP Park, for Saturday, June 13th.
  • Our mission is to continue to provide an outlet of fun and social activity in people's lives which will be difficult giving the current circumstances.  We are working to offer alternatives.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  Please feel free to reach out to us directly with concerns or questions.

at your service,

Everyone should be practicing good health hygiene. Here are some tips to help make sure we all stay healthy:

  • If you’re feeling even slightly under the weather or you’re running a fever, please stay home,
  • Wash your hands after using the restroom and before eating for AT LEAST 20 seconds,
  • Avoid touching your face,
  • Sneeze or cough into your arm, not your hands,
  • Avoid shaking hands and high-fives,
  • Avoid drinking from the same cup or bottle as someone else,
  • People over 60 years old and anyone with a compromised immune system or serious, chronic medical condition (like heart disease, diabetes or lung disease) should avoid crowds as much as possible.
